MANDARIN Oriental Hotel Group and Thai Airways (TG) have partnered to offer deals to members of the airline's frequent flyer programme, Royal Orchid Plus.
From December 1, 1999 to March 31, 2000 members will qualify for air miles with stays at any Mandarin round the world.
Raffles goes public
RAFFLES Hotel in Singapore has gone public, offering 300 million shares on the Singapore stock exchange. The company hoped to Raise $255 million through the share offering.
New hotels in luxe group
THREE hotels in Malaysia have joined the Small Luxury Hotels of the World group.
The Tanjong Jara Resort on the east coast has 100 cottages and a mile-long private beach. In Kuala Lumpur, the Carcosa Seri Negara has 13 rooms and 40 acres of gardens. The Andaman on the island of Langkwai has 188 rooms and is famed for its setting in the rainforest.
Korean ski packages
KOREAN ski deals can be had starting at US$130 for a double room. The Swiss Grand Hotel in Seoul is offering accommodation, 30 per cent off lift tickets and rentals at the Yangji Ski Resort and free transfers. Guests can also take advantage of the hotel's gym and pool. Packages are available until February 29 2000.
Five new Bass hotels to open
BASS Hotels and Resorts will open five new hotels in the Middle East in 2000 and 2001.
Two of the new properties are Holiday Inns, in Lebanon and Saudi Arabia. Another two are Inter-Continentals, set to open in Saudi and the West Bank. The fifth hotel will be the Jacir Palace Inter-Continental Bethlehem.
The new hotels in Saudi Arabia will add a total of 367 new rooms, 175 in the Olaya Holiday Inn in Riyadh and 192 in the Dar El Taqwa Inter-Continental Madinah.
The Holiday Inn Beirut Martinez will open in February with 184 rooms.
