SINGAPORE will host 2,500 "Weekend Sports Warriors" in the first ever Southeast Asian Corporate Games from May 19 to 21, 2000.
Southeast Asia Corporate Games director Digby Collis says, "The Games is unique as it is the first time Singapore is staging an event for participants targetting the business sector, both public and private, to participate in 13 different sports. It is an ideal opportunity for business networking, improved productivity, teamwork as well as building employer/employee relations." Singapore will be the venue for the annual games from 2000 to 2002.
Philippines to begin MICE campaign
THE Philippines will be launching a MICE marketing campaign in 2001.
Temporarily named "Meetings Make Manila", the campaign will focus primarily on the Manila Bay area's convention facilities. Philippine Convention and Visitors Corporation executive director Daniel Corpuz says that the one-year campaign will aim to increase the Philippines' share of international MICE business from 40 to 60 a year. As well as Manila the campaign is targetting regional exhibitions and conventions for Cebu, and domestic events for Davao.
MICE business in the Philippines has seen a five per cent increase each year for the past two years.
