THE SWEDISH CLUB

KJELL Augustsson has been appointed underwriter at The Swedish Club's Head Office in Gothenburg, and will join the firm on July 1.

Augustsson moves to The Swedish Club from Norwegian P&I club, Skuld, where he was joint head of the underwriting department at its Oslo headquarters. He joined Skuld's Stockholm office in 1991 as an underwriter.

Previously, he held positions at the Swedish insurance company, Atlas/Sirius International, and reinsurance brokers EW Payne Scandinavia AB. Augustsson holds a degree in economics from the University of Stockholm.

"This is a logical development for us," Frans Malmros, managing director of The Swedish Club, said of Augustsson's appointment.

"During the last few years, our P&I entries have grown substantially and by adding another highly experienced underwriter to our team we shall take advantage of the positive trends we feel in the market.

"The Club's long-established 'all-in-one' insurance concept is becoming increasingly popular. With the addition of Kjell Augustsson, we will now stand even better prepared for future opportunities," Malmros added.

The Swedish Club offers international marine insurance and has offices throughout the world.

The firm's P&I portfolio now stands at 759 vessels of 13.9 million gross tonnes. The company's hull portfolio consists of 642 vessels at 20.6 million gross tonnes.

The Club entered the 21st century with a loss ratio below 100 per cent.
