UK-based De La Rue is the world's largest commercial security printer and paper marker, involved in the production of over 150 national currencies and a wide range of security documents, such as stamps and vouchers, as well as brand protection. The company is also a leading provider of cash-handling equipment and solutions to banks and retailers, as well as a range of identity systems to commerce and governments worldwide.
U-T's initial contract involves air freight sites in the UK, Sweden and the US and will ultimately be extended to cover France, Italy, Singapore, Malta, Kenya and Sri Lanka.
De La Rue Group ships more than 32 million kilogrammes of freight from the UK, the US and Sweden to and from more than 100 countries worldwide.
"We are extremely enthusiastic about our new relationship with De La Rue, and with our performance in winning the business against a tough array of competition," U-T CEO for Europe Peter Thorrington said. "The logistics budget for the UK alone is estimated to be in excess of US$12 million per annum, which will make De La Rue one of U-T's largest global customers and our largest customer in the UK."
