The High Life - Business Travel Expo Hong Kong, Asia's new dedicated business-to-business travel show for corporate travel buyers to meet airlines, hotel groups and other travel industry players, will be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from March 12-13.
To coincide with the show, the Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE), will hold its regional executive forum in Hong Kong on March 11, allowing a large number of regional corporate travel buyers to participate in the ACTE forum and the show in the same week.
"Currently only a small proportion of companies in Asia are using their buying power to negotiate direct with suppliers such as airlines, hotels and large corporate travel agents," says Herman Mensink of ACTE. "As such, there is tremendous potential for a show such as this to stimulate change within the corporate travel industry in the region. That's why we are pleased to support this event and have decided to organise our executive forum in Hong Kong to coincide with the show."
The show is organised by Centaur Exhibitions, the UK-based exhibitions organiser responsible for the Business Travel Show London and other leading corporate travel events in Europe.
Despite the current economic downturn, most major players in the regional travel industry have already committed to participating and only 25% of the exhibition space was left unsold at the start of the year.
More than 45 companies are exhibiting so far and include major regional players such as Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, Star Alliance, Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts, Marriott International, Six Continents, SRS-WORLDHOTELS, Swire Travel, Farrington American Express, P&O Travel and the Australian Tourist Commission.
"Industry commentators have been almost unanimous in the view that business travel activity will lead the regeneration of the global travel industry," says Paul Robin, exhibition director for Business Travel Expo Hong Kong. "That commitment has been borne out by the tremendous interest in, and enthusiasm for, what promises to be an extremely successful first show in Hong Kong."
